- Version de la méthode
- England-Fraser discriminant-function arithmetic v1: raw D.F.' = MCV (fL) - RBC count coefficient (million/µL, numerically identical to 10^12/L) - [5 × hemoglobin (g/dL, numerically identical to g/100 mL)] - 3.4; g/L hemoglobin is normalized to g/dL by division by 10; no sign rule is applied
- Population
- The original historical cohort of 72 patients presenting with microcytosis, after applicability and microcytosis are established independently and pregnancy is excluded, using MCV, RBC count, and hemoglobin from the same contemporaneous complete blood count and specimen with analyzer identities, reported units, and laboratory results verified.
- Limites et exclusions
- Pregnancy; the original authors explicitly stated that the function is not applicable in pregnancy. · Any sign rule, positive/negative classification, cutoff, threshold, result category, differential conclusion, diagnostic classification, diagnosis, claim of modern diagnostic validation, workup, management recommendation, treatment recommendation, or other clinical decision. · Mismatched specimens or CBC collection times, non-contemporaneous measurements, or unverified specimen identity, analyzer parameter identity, reported unit, or laboratory result. · Use without independently established microcytosis and source-population applicability, or extrapolation to another population or analytical context. · RBC or hemoglobin inputs outside the explicit coefficient identities and units in the formula, or any inferred or silently reinterpreted unit or analyte identity.
